On Wednesday, Delaware Probation and Parole Officers assigned to the U.S. Marshal's Task Force assisted Wilmington Police in the apprehension of Attempted Murder Suspect, DERRICK BRAXTON, 20, Wilmington, for his connection with an October shooting.

After spending the last few months on the run, officers received intel that Braxton was hiding out near the 700 block of W. 2nd Street. Based on this information, officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence in question. Braxton was taken into custody without incident.

Braxton was wanted since October for his involvement in a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Jefferson St, Wilmington. 

Braxton, who is a person prohibited from possessing a firearm was charged with the following offenses:
POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY;
 
POSSESS, PURCHASE, OWN, OR CONTROL A FIREARM DESTRUCTIVE WEAPON IF PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED;
 
CARRYING A CONCEALED DEADLY WEAPON TO WIT:  A FIREARM;
 
ATTEMPTED MURDER FIRST DEGREE INTENTIONALLY CAUSED DEATH OF ANOTHER PERSON;
 
POSSESS, PURCHASE, OWN, CONTROL FIREARM, AMMO BY PERSON PROHIBITED PRIOR VIOLENT CRIME OR FELONY

Braxton was committed to Howard R.  Young Correctional Institution in default of bail and will be awaiting trial for his charges.
