Claymont- Delaware Probation and Parole Officers work with Delaware State Police to apprehend a Pennsylvania man for possession of drugs as well as a gun in Claymont.

On July 6, 2017, at approximately 9:30 pm, members of the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force, a joint task force consisting of officers from Delaware Probation & Parole and Delaware State Police, were conducting proactive patrols in the Claymont area. During their patrol, officers observed Jihad Amaad Rashaad Morris of Chester, PA, making illegal narcotic sales in the parking lot of the Northtowne Plaza. After witnessing the transactions, officers attempted to make contact with Morris who was sitting in his silver Chevrolet Impala. Officers then conducted a simple pat down of Morris which turned up 10 grams of powder cocaine inside Morris’ pants.  Following Morris’ arrest, officers conducted a search of his vehicle which led to the discovery of a fully loaded Glock 9 mm handgun hidden in the armrest.

Morris was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 1 and charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. He was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Department of Corrections’ Howard Young Correctional Institution in default of $53,000.00 cash bond.
